旅客評價-great hospitality with kind and sincere host

A great place to stay if you need a retreat into the nature. Very clean and spacious room that are simple but very tastefully decorated. Both Mr and Mrs Chung are very kind and hospitable. Home cooked food are great too. We were treated to red wine by Mr Chung when he overheard that we wished we had bought some wine on our way up! A walk in the nearby La La mountain complements the stay. The guide Sky Wu was fantastic! He was very easy going and after a while we are so comfortable with him that we just treated him like one of us. He is not at all mercenary and will acede to all our request beyond the call of duty!

Fuyam Tourist Home

Comments from our guest :A great place to stay at

I would describe Fu-yam as 'Paradise for city people'. The almost 2 hours driving distance fromTaoyuan airport keep the air and sound pollution away. The environment is nice though the hardworking of the owner, Mr. & Mrs. Chung, who spent many years to build up the garden, small farms, fish pool... etc. Mrs. Chung (throught the help of the tourist guide, Sky) cook excellent Haka meals for us. Of coruse, their love dog & their Indonesian domestic helper (sorry, I forget their names) are wonderful companion during our stay.
However, it would be better if there can be a small table inside the room, so that we can pack our luggage more convenient

Cihu Sculpture Memorial Park @ Dashi Taoyuan

The Cihu Sculpture Memorial Park was planned and established in 1997 by the Daxi Town Hall. It is the only memorial garden in the world dedicated to sculptures of a single person, in this case Jiang Jie-shi. On February 29, 2000, the Kaohsiung County government held a ceremony for the removal and donation of the first bronze sculpture of Jiang. As of November 2008, there are a total of 152 sculptures of Jiang in the park in full figure, bust, seated, and standing forms as well as riding a horse. There are illustrative signs set in front of the park so that visitors can clearly understand their backgrounds. And if you look carefully, maybe you can find someone even greater than Jiang Jie-shi in the park!

Among the statues are familiar-looking standing and half-bust bronze statues, which were donated mostly by schools and government organizations. There are also statues of CKS seated and horse-riding. Every statue has its own artistic value. Interconnected foot trails lead to various statues in the park. There are also elegant Chinese garden-style gardens with bridges and water below them.

Sansia old street at Taipei county,Taiwan

Near the mountains and by the rivers, Sansia Old Street is one of the longest old streets in
northern Taiwan. It is a scarce complete traditional street with historical value.

Sansia Old Street generally refers to the southern section of Minquan Street and is about 200 meters long. The buildings have stood since the earliest period of the Republic of China. Various words on the building fronts represent surnames, names, and shop names, and their signages are very different from today’s. The buildings are equipped with magnificent verandahs, which are the most impressive parts of the buildings along this street. Their decorated archways are rich in culture and they play a valuable role in reminding people of the need to preserve historical relics. The outer walls of the buildings are built with red brick, while the inner walls were made of clay. The outer parts of the buildings are decorated with a variety of patterns, and in particular the second-floor windowsills, making them all more beautiful. There are many with traditional Chinese patterns, animal motifs, and even foreign patterns. Opposite Minquan Street is Daughter Wall, a smaller wall known for its unique styling, featuring solid, hollow, and framed styles of decoration.

(1)Before Rebuilding
Sansia Old Street used to be the most flourish street in Sansia area. As time goes by, however,
the old good time has gone. Besides, houses that damaged by rain and wind became dangerous buildings. Thus, the locals gradually moved away, and the Old Street was fallen and scattered.

(2)Renovation and Construction
In 2004, the government subsidized 3 hundred million to renovate the buildings and streets of
Sansia Old Street. To preserve its original style and features, TD-13 was especially applied.

(3)Inauguration
In 1911, Sansia Old Street was relaunched. Taipei County Magistrate Chou His-Wei wore
ancient costume as a jinrikisha driver and served as the spokesman of the Old Street announcing the reproduction of Sansia Old Street’s golden age.

(4)Now
The outward appearances of the buildings in Sansia Old Street are completely preserved, and
Old Street houses with 100 different styles form a unique feature. Besides, because of the locals’ enthusiastic devotion, the Old Street starts to have the gathering of cloth dyeing and traditional artifacts industries. On weekends, the Old Street always allures the public’s coming and taking pictures.

Sanshia Master Temple @ Taipei county ,Taiwan

Background of Master Ching-shui

Master Ching-shui is the guardian patron of An-hsi, Fuchien. There are different versions concerning his life.

One version is that he was born during Jen-Tsung period in North Sung dynasty. His name was Chen Chao-ying and he was from Yung-chun province, Fuchien. He became a monk at a very young age and was given the name Pu-tsu. During his lifetime, he built bridges and prayed for rain for many villages. He was much revered by the villagers for his kind deeds. He lived in Ching-shui Yen at Peng-lai Monutain. When he passed away, the villagers built a pagoda and his sculpture to worship him and they gave him the title of Master of Charity and Benevolence.

Another version says that he was from Kai-feng in the South Sung dynasty. He was a follower of Wen Tien-hsiang, a Sung patriot who tried to overthrow the Yuan rulers. Later, Emperor Tai-tsung of the Ming dynasty awarded him the honorary title of the “Defender of the Nation” and ordered that a temple be built to worship him in the area where he used to live – Ching-shui Yen in An-hsi, Fuchien. That is why the people in An-hsi refer to him respectfully as the Master and the temple is named “Master Temple.”

The Master Ching-shui worshipped at the Sanshia Master Temple is also called “Master Ma-chang” or “Wu Mien Tsu-shih (Dark-faced Master)” in the Min-nan (Southern Fuchien) language. The Taiwanese people generally refer to this deity as “Tsu-shih Kung (Grand Master).” The incarnations of the Master Ching-shui are known as Peng-lai Ta Tsu, Hsien-ying Tsu-shih, Hui-ying Tsu-shih, Pu-an Tsu-shih, or Lo-pi Tsu-shih.

The ancestors of the Han Chinese arrived in Taiwan in the Ching Dynasty and settled in Feng-shan, Chia-yi, Yun-lin, Chang-hua, Heng-chun, Peng-hu , and Tan-shui areas where they built Master Temples. The most prominent Master temples in the northern region are those in Meng-chia, Tan-shui, and Sanshia.

The evolution of the Sanshia Masters Temple

Sanshia and Ying-Ke were originally towns under the jurisdiction of “Hai-shan Chuang. ” With the development brought by immigrants, the towns grew and prospered. The Sanshia Master Temple and Ying-ke pottery has become representative of Taiwan’s folk culture.

In Kang-hsi 24th year, Chen Yu-lu and his clan from An-hsi settled in Nan-ching Tso (now known as Ying-ke Nan-ching Li). In Chien-lung 20th year (1749), Tung Jih-hsu from An-hsi led a group of people to develop the land in Sanshia. By Chien-lung 34th year (1769), they had settled comfortably into their new lease on life and started to build the Sanshia Master Temple, at that time known as “Chang-fu Yen.” The duty for the worship of Chang-fu Yen Master was allotted to seven clans by the surnames Chen, Li, Liu, Lin, Wang, Ta Ca surnames, and Chung Chuang Ca surnames. They took turns to fund and organize the annual birthday celebration for the Master on the 6th day of the 1st lunar month.

Fantastic~~

We would like to thank Mr & Mrs Chung and our driver and guide, Sky for their very warm hospitality and kindness. We indeed enjoyed our 2 nights stay very much, with the fantastic view from our room, the delicious food that Mrs Chung prepared and the kindness of everybody at Fu Yam. We would highly recommend anyone who wishes to get away from the city and have some peace and quiet to stay in Fu Yam. We hope to be able to return again in the near future. Taiwan B&B The comment from Jovene_Chua ~Unforgettable experience: great food, beautiful place, wonderful hosts Singapore

A 2-night stay at Fu-Yam Tourist Home 福緣山莊 was a most memorable way to kick start our Taiwan holiday.

Located in the scenic Mt. Lala in the state of Taoyuan, this tourist home is surrounded by mountain rocks, forests and creeks.

There are quite a few units with different rooms. The one we were given is newly renovated. 2 big double beds and for the 5th person (that's me), I was given bedding for the floor but that's still quite comfortable.

We were picked up at the airport by the elder brother of Mr. Chung, the owner of Fu-Yam. (His son made such a nice welcome sign with my dad's name that we actually brought it home as a keepsake.)The journey took around 2-3 hours but it was worth it.

Air is great. We heard that Mt. Lala has one of the highest levels of oxygen among Taiwan's numerous mountains.

Situated just beside a creek, you can enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings by taking a nice dip.

Food (homecooked Hakka dishes by Mrs. Chung) were fantastic. You will be able to see from my food pics, which doesn't do enough justice.

The owners - Mr. and Mrs. Chung (鐘莊主), the elder Mr. Chung (who drove us around) and their helpers were really very friendly and hospitable. They arranged for us to visit the Lalashan Forest Reserve to see the ancient trees, and also visited a fruit farm to buy peaches (水密桃). On our 2nd night, they sat down to have tea and also shared with us their homemade spring blossom wine while we chatted under a starry night.

All in all, this is an unforgettable and highly recommended experience! Visit their website at www.fu-yam.com.tw.

Taiwan B&B ----Great place, great food, great people

Fantastic place to stay if you are looking for a destination away from the city.
Air is fresh, food is good, pple are super friendly!
I still remember we needed to access email for confirmation on our next destination and hotel, they offer to let us use their personal computer and even help us liase with the next hotel that we are going.
They cook the best food on earth SERIOUSLY! I miss the FISH.........
Room was spacious and the scenic will definately blow you away.
Downside of it is that the journey in is really long but is definately worth the trip down.
My advice, stay for more than 1 night, we regretted that we did not manage to extend our stay due to our tight schedule. :)

Taiwan B&B-----The comment from NYC~ One Word - 'Paradise'

On my first visit, it was the first time ever I have woken up to songs of birds as if I was in the Garden of Eden. It was simply amazing. The view is breathtaking. If you have never gone to Lala-San before, you're missing out! Just five minutes away from the lodge is a hot tourist spot. It's the oldest forest on the island with redwoods aged up to a couple thousand years old. It can probably compare with some of the oldest in the world. Don't forget to try the peach there (season starts around mid June), it's to die for. On top of all that nature has to offer there, the hosts are very friendly and are quick to befriend you. The meals are deliciously cooked with ingredients that are grown organically. I have been to my share of five star hotels and Fu-Yam is definitely up there with all of them. The beds and rooms are immaculately clean and new too! I have already been there five times in the past two years and every experience has been exhilarating in its own unique way. What I liked the least...? I can't make it my permanent residence.

Taiwan B&B-----The comment from Singapore. ”Cool retreat”

Fu Yam Tourist home is very warm , cosy, surronded by the beauty of nature with a fine touch of fresh air .
I like the sound of water in the dark, warm light and food that touches the heart.
The scenic has different character between day and night and most important the owner is one with energy that will spice up your day.

Taiwan B&B-----The comment from Manila ~Heaven on Earth

Availed of their NTD 10,000 package tour, inclusive of 4 meals, overnight stay, roundtrip transfers to the airport, tours to Dasi and Mt. Lala plus entrance fees.

From the airport, it can become a very long ride, close to 2 hours over zigzag roads going up the mountain. But once you reach this place...you may fall in love with it immediately.

We decided on skipping a trip to Taipei to experience something different in Taiwan, and we surely got it from Fu-Yam. It is nestled and tucked beneath huge mountains..with a gentle and calming stream that you will hear every day and night. It is very quiet, very peaceful, where you can even hear birds chirping even in the middle of the night. The rooms are very lovely with windows that show beautiful images of mountains, beautiful trees, cherry blossoms and a variety of flora. There are also nice little ponds near the stream where you can just sit and watch the fish, or just close your eyes and listen to the calming waters and chirping wildlife.

The tour to the Dasi old streets was nice. Charming villages and old quaint structures and temples. Wasnt that much of a fan of Mt. Lala though. It was too tiring. I would rather stay in Fu-Yam all day and just relax in their balcony, reading a book or surfing the net (free WiFi) over a cup of coffee or tea.

The food was absolutely delicious. Home-made cooking prepared by the owners, Hakka style.

The owners, Brian and his father and mother were all too amazing. We couldnt thank them enough for their warmth and hospitality. Booking this place for your next holiday wouldnt be like your usual hotel and tour activity.

Think of it as a family inviting you over to their home..a home that is actually more of like a piece of paradise.
